Difference Between Molded Grating vs Pultruded Grating

The Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic Grating is produced when the two composite materials; resin and fiberglass are combined together. Generally, it can be used in many ways, but it is specifically used for walkways and overhead platforms. 

Fiber grate can be the best thing to use in engineering works such as; ladder, guardrail, fiberglass handrail, and structural product needs.

Since FRP grating is expanded into four other types including pultruded, molded, and heavy duty gratings; so why don’t we throw light upon few basic facts of each type that distinguish it from others? Yes, we’re going to discuss today how molded grating is different with the pultruded grating.

What is the difference between Molded & Pultruded Grating?

Molded Grating

The molded grading has a typical square mesh pattern similar to a checkerboard. Whereas, the pultruded grating is made from a series of parallel bars. 

 

The squares in (molded grating) mesh pattern for motivating are typically 1 and ½ inches on center, while the top surface can be gridded or a concave non-slip surface.

Other common mesh patterns are; 1 inch by 4-inch rectangular mesh and 1 by 6. On molded stair treads, the most popular panel sizes from molded grading are 4 feet by 12 feet, 4 by 8, and 3 by 10.

Pultruded Grating

It consists of a series of parallel bearing bars. The bearing bars have T or I shaped profile, the closure the bearing bars are together, the stronger the grading.

The bearing bars are kept parallel with series of cross rods 6 inches apart that run 90 degrees through the bearing bars. The cross rods themselves do not offer any kind of support. 

The pultruded grating can only support weight in the direction of bearing bars, while fiberglass molded grading is strong enough in both directions.

What is Common between both?

Both molded grating in while true degrading are available in 1 inch and a half, and 2 inch deep panels.
